Description:

Heavy rains have hit Haiti, just months after the the country was devastated by a big earthquake in January. The country is still trying to recover from the disaster, but now people living in temporary camps have had to deal with flooding too. One camp was so badly flooded residents came close to being swept away. Charities working in Haiti are really worried because the rainy season has come early - it doesn't usually start until April. People are using anything they can get their hands on to clear away the water and build drainage ditches. The Caribbean country was devastated in January after a massive earthquake. It was felt all over the island and reached 7.0 on the Richter scale, which measures the strength of the tremors. Lots of buildings, including the national palace and a hospital in capital Port-au-Prince, were destroyed. Over the past few months people all over the world have been raising money to try and help the people affected by the quake.
