Description:

A bus driver was killed, 14 passengers and another person were seriously injured today when a bus collided head-on with a truck in upper Assam's Golaghat district. The Jorhat-Nagaon bus owned by state-run Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) collided with a speedying sand-carrying truck on National Highway 37 at Rangamati near Dergaon, the police said. Official sources said the bus skidded off the road to a paddy field, killing the driver - Ramu Sonari - on the spot. At least 14 bus passengers and one of the labourers of the truck were seriouly injured, sources said. They were admitted to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, officials said.
