The Cleburne County sheriff says one person died when a tornado struck the north-central Arkansas county. Sheriff Marty Moss declined to identify the victim or say where the death occurred. Arkansas Department of Emergency Management officials and law enforcement report four people were injured during the storms. Moss declined to say whether the victim was among those injured. About 1,300 power outages were reported from near El Dorado in southern Arkansas to just south of Jonesboro in the northeast on Thursday morning following the twisters on Wednesday night. Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Renee Preslar says three people suffered major injuries when a house was destroyed near Pearson in Cleburne County. White County authorities say one person was hospitalized with a leg injury after a tornado near Center Hill. Lt. Scott Courtney of the Saline County Sheriff's Department said a dozen homes were damaged near Benton. A tornado did minor damage, snapping trees and downing power lines near Ozan in Hempstead County.
