Situation: The official death toll from Saturday's 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Chile and the tsunami it unleashed rose from 795 to 799. The national emergency office confirmed that 587 people lost their lives in the Maule region and 92 south of Santiago. The rest of the victims' lives were lost in various other outlying areas. |  |
