Description: More than 600 box jellyfish were spotted on Waikiki Beach and more than 75 at Ala Moana Beach Park Tuesday morning. Lifeguards posted warning signs at both beaches. The city's Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division reminded the public of a high influx of box jellyfish, as expected, on Oahu shores Tuesday. "Ocean Safety personnel would like to remind beachgoers to heed all warning signs and to please check with them before entering the water today," said Bryan Cheplic, public information officer for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, in a statement. Ocean Safety says people stung by box jellyfish are advised to flush the sting area with white vinegar. Anyone experiencing breathing difficulty, muscle cramps/spasms and/or persistent pain are advised to seek immediate medical attention.
