Description: A weather system that has pelted the Phoenix area since noon continued to produce chances of thunderstorms and rain showers that could bring rates of a half-inch of rain per hour Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Lightning and high winds were possible. The northern and eastern parts of the Valley saw the most rainfall during the early afternoon. Parts of Cave Creek saw as much as three-tenths of an inch of rain. A winter storm advisory was issued to remain in effect until 8 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued just after 1 p.m. while parts of a large storm system passed through the East Valley with winds that were initially predicted to reach 60 mph in some areas. That warning was canceled before 2 p.m. There were reports of hail in Chandler. Temperatures should reach the high 50s, and it should remain cloudy with slight breezes. Forecasters predicted a sunny Wednesday with a slight chance of rain as the last bit of the fast-moving storm system was expected to leave overnight.
