Description:

Eleven people, including seven children, were injured Sunday afternoon when two vans crashed on the South Side. A Ford minivan and a full-sized Ford van were involved in a collision at South Racine Avenue and West 68th Street about 2:40 p.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said. An EMS Plan 1 response, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene was initiated and seven children were taken to area hospitals in serious condition, Curtis said. Three adults were hospitalized in serious condition and one adult was taken in serious-to-critical condition. The injured were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Provident Hospital of Cook County, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, University of Chicago Hospitals and Holy Cross Hospital. A cause for the crash was not immediately apparent Sunday afternoon.
