Description: Up to 30 cars were involved in a massive accident on the A8 motorway in Bavaria on Friday morning, as a late snowstorm created dangerous road conditions throughout the southern German state. Police reported that between 20 and 30 vehicles were involved in the pile-up on the motorway near Friedberg. Major delays were expected as authorities shut down both directions of the autobahn for clean-up. Police were unable to give an accurate count of those hurt in the accident, but reported that there were no serious injuries. Meanwhile another 20 vehicles were part of other accidents on a county road between Hunderdorf and Hermannsdorf in the Straubing-Bogen county. Police said driving conditions there were extremely icy and closed the road following three injuries resulting from the accidents. Up to 30 centimetres of snow is expected in many parts of the country over the weekend, the German Weather Service (DWD) reported this week.
