On 2010-03-09 at 17:49:08 [UTC]

Event: Vehicle Accident
Location: Belgium Wallonia Mons

Situation:

A train derailed Tuesday in the western town of Mons but caused no injuries, officials said. "There is a train that derailed this morning in the train station of Mons, it is not serious. There were no people in the train," said spokeswoman Corinne Altasse. The accident at the Mons station, about 53 km southwest of Brussels, occurred around 6 a.m. (0500 GMT) and the train was empty except the driver. Only the last car of the seven-car train derailed. The derailment disrupted traffic in the southern region of Belgium. It was Belgium's second railway accident within a month, leaving the safety of the country's train system in question. On Feb. 15, two passenger trains crashed headon near Brussels, killing at least 18 people and injured more than 150 others.
